Parent Teacher Student Association

The PTSA at Archbishop McNicholas High School strives to make each school year one of opportunity and enrichment to the school community and all of its members. The goals as outlined in the by-laws direct the group's actions:

  • To promote the well-being of the students.
  • To advance the interests of a "Christ-centered" educational environment.
  • To continually foster a spirit of communication and cooperation among all invested parties.
  • To encourage active participation in school affairs, programs, and events.
  • To provide financial support to the school through fundraising that benefits the whole school.

2019-20 PTSA Events 

Student Club Fair
Thursday, August 29
Chairperson: Lauri Zahumensky
This school day, lunchtime activity in the library introduces McNick students to the clubs and activities offered throughout the year. A volunteer is needed to coordinate with faculty and staff who lead each club and to set up tables. The fair is run by the students, so no need to stay.

Meet the Teacher Night
Wednesday, September 4
Chairperson: Nikki Waterman and Lauri Zahumensky
During this evening event, parents are invited to walk through their students schedule, meet the teachers, and hear brief descriptions of classroom expectations. PTSA hosts a table with refreshments one hour prior to the start of the evening. Volunteers are needed to bring light refreshments and greet parents who are interested in learning more about the PTSA. Great opportunity for those who enjoy the meet-and-greet role!

New Student Open House
Sunday, October 27
Chairperson: Nikki Waterman and Lauri Zahumensky
On this day, prospective students and parents tour McNicholas, learn about extracurricular activities, and have an opportunity to meet with students and staff. Volunteers are needed to assist with activities delegated by school staff, staff a table of refreshments in the café, greet parents and students, and serve as an ambassador for the PTSA.

Doughnuts with the Principal
End of each quarter: Oct. 18, Dec. 17, Mar. 13
Chairperson: Sharon Tobin
This activity is a fun lunchtime event where the students get to share a doughnut and some conversation with our principal to celebrate the end of the quarter. Volunteers are needed to hand out doughnuts during lunch, as well as help pick up doughnuts and supplies on the day of event. If you want a sneak peek at your student in his/her world, this is it!

Cupcakes and Cookies for Catholic Schools Week
Friday, January 29
Chairperson: Tammy Carter
This fun, lunchtime event provides a treat for the students as we celebrate Catholic Schools week. Volunteers help bake or buy cupcakes, set up the morning of the event, serve the students and help clean up.

Father Son Breakfast
Sunday, Feb. 2 or 9
Chairperson: Kelley Lang-

Fathers and sons spend a morning sharing a great breakfast and listening to a motivational speaker. This is a beloved event at McNick. Volunteers are needed to help with mailing invitations,  set up and serve breakfast, help with father-son  photos and clean up.

Faculty Appreciation Breakfast
Friday, May 8
Chairperson: Lauri Zahumensky
PTSA prepares and serves breakfast to the faculty and staff before the start of school.  Volunteers are asked to bring in the necessary food for a delicious breakfast. This is a great way to meet the teachers and staff and say thank you for all that they do.

After Prom
Friday and Saturday, April 3 and 4
Chairperson: Kirsten Hagenbarth
After Prom is the largest PTSA sponsored event of the year. Many volunteers are needed to help with decorations, soliciting prizes and sponsors, chaperoning, and cleaning up the next day. Planning begins early in the school year with much of the work being done in the spring close to the event date.

Faculty Appreciation Lunch
Wednesday, June 1

During the last week of school, PTSA provides a well deserved, thank you luncheon for our McNick faculty and staff. Volunteers are needed to provide lunch items and to help with setup and clean up.

Used Uniform Sale 
June 2020
Chairperson: Erin Fullerton
The one-day sale, held in the school lobby, is open to all McNicholas parents and students. Volunteers are needed to organize and sell the spirit wear. It’s a great way to catch up with people during the summer and meet other parents who are shopping. 

All Rocket parents are invited to attend or volunteer at any of the events or come to one of our meetings. PTSA monthly meetings are held in the Heritage Room in the Convent at 7 p.m. and generally last an hour.
