The PTSA at Archbishop McNicholas High School strives to make each school year one of opportunity and enrichment to the school community and all of its members. The goals as outlined in the by-laws direct the group's actions:
- To promote the well-being of the students.
- To advance the interests of a "Christ-centered" educational environment.
- To continually foster a spirit of communication and cooperation among all invested parties.
- To encourage active participation in school affairs, programs, and events.
- To provide financial support to the school through fundraising that benefits the whole school.
Want to get involved in PTSA?
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the school library. All are welcome to attend! If you would like to be added to the agenda to discuss any topic, please contact Eva Booher or Jen Malof.
Our school shop sells spirit wear and uniform apparel. The Rocket Shop is managed by Erin Fullerton . Daytime volunteers are needed to staff the shop typically on a once a month basis on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Volunteers are also needed to staff the shop during evening sports events and special events. To volunteer, contact Kirsten Hagenbarth.
PTSA is involved in producing or supporting the following events. We look forward to seeing you soon as a guest or volunteer:
Freshmen Parent Night
This fun and social evening is to welcome freshmen parents and any new parents to the McNicholas community. The event is held on the same night as the first Friday home football game. While students cheer on the Rockets, parents gather for light-bites and beverages. Volunteers are needed to bring food, organize set-up, and clean-up. To volunteer, please contact Eva Booher.
This school day, lunchtime activity introduces McNicholas students to all the clubs and activities offered at McNicholas throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to help set up tables and coordinate with faculty and staff who lead each club. To volunteer, please contact Lauri Zahumensky or Sharon Tobin.
Meet the Teacher
On Meet the Teacher night, parents are invited to school and walk through their student’s schedule. Parents are able to meet teachers and hear brief descriptions of classroom expectations. This is also a time to meet classmates' parents as well as counselors and administrators. PTSA greets parents and introduces its activities to families as they come into the school. To volunteer to staff the table, contact Jen Malof.
This school-sponsored fundraiser benefits McNick as well as Catholic Inner City Schools. Volunteers are needed to staff checkpoints along walk route in the Mount Washington area. To volunteer, contact Jen Malof.
Doughnuts with the Principal
This quarterly activity is a fun morning for all students where they have an opportunity to share doughnuts and a little conversation with our principal. To volunteer to set up, pick up donuts, and clean up after the event, contact Sharon Tobin.
New Student Open House
On this day, prospective students and their parents (seventh and eighth graders) tour the school facilities, learn about extra-curricular activities and have an opportunity to meet with students and staff. Assistance is needed as delegated by staff as well as staffing a table of refreshments outside the large gym. To volunteer, contact Becky Stratton.
Cupcakes for Catholic Schools Week
This February event provides a fun treat for students as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Volunteers help bake or buy cupcakes and set up the morning of the event. To volunteer, contact Ursula Miller.
Fathers and sons spend a morning sharing breakfast and listening to a speaker. Volunteers are needed to help with mailing invitations prior to the event. On the day of the breakfast, volunteers are needed to set up, to assist serving breakfast, and to clean up. To volunteer, contact Susan Szabo.
Faculty Appreciation Breakfast
PTSA sponsors a breakfast for the faculty and staff. Volunteers are needed to bring food, set up, and clean up afterwards. This is a great chance to meet teachers and staff! To volunteer, contact Lauri Zahumensky.
After Prom is the largest PTSA sponsored event of the year! Many volunteers are needed. Opportunities include helping to decorate, soliciting prizes and sponsors, chaperoning the all-night event, and cleaning up the next day. Planning begins early in the school year; much of the work is done in the spring closer to the event date. To volunteer, contact Kirsten Hagenbarth.
Faculty Appreciation Luncheon
On the last day of school, PTSA provides a well-deserved, thank-you lunch to our McNicholas faculty and staff. Volunteers are needed to provide lunch items such as casseroles, side dishes, desserts, and breads as well to set up and clean up. To volunteer, contact Shari Lyn Reynolds.
