Rocket Lighthouse

Our close-knit community looks out for each other in so many ways and Rocket Lighthouse is a prime example.

Rocket Lighthouse (formerly Hope Squad) is a peer-to-peer, mental health awareness and suicide prevention program that strives to...

  • improve mental health education while reducing stigma.
  • reach out to students in need quickly and intentionally.
  • normalize help-seeking for emotional distress.
  • facilitate access to care, allowing students to get the right help at the right time.
  • provide connection between Rocket Lighthouse members and their peers in distress.
  • reduce and eliminate suicide.

Rocket Lighthouse is open to any student with a heart for ministering to their peers who may be struggling with mental health challenges or thoughts of suicide. Lightkeepers are a special group of members who volunteer and are trained to identify early signs of a mental health crisis, provide interventions to reduce personal distress, provide hope, understanding and compassion and to assist their peer in finding help. Members also provide positive messages and work to educate their peers about mental health issues, ways to stay healthy, and how to support those who are struggling. Lighthouse also works to partner with related groups from the community. Adult Advisors include members of the counseling staff and faculty trained in QPR intervention strategies.

The yellow bench sits outside the counseling office. Our goal is to move it periodically around the school to provide a place for conversation and compassion.
