Xavier Leadership Center leads day of formation for Class of 2025

The Class of 2025 grew in compassionate leadership this week as they bonded together during leadership formation. This day of formation laid the groundwork for the Leadership McNick program, a joint venture between McNicholas and the Xavier University Leadership Center (XLC), that will officially kick off next school year.

Carol Turchick, 1987 graduate of McNicholas and Director of the XLC, helped design and coordinate the day.  Ife Bell, member of XLC’s team of expert facilitators, led the Class of 2025 through strength-finding exercises and helped them to identify and build their “Leadership Brand.” 

With the help of senior peer mentors, McNicholas Student Culture Coordinator, Mr. Todd Naumann, led the afternoon session which focused on how students can use social media to build a positive brand and to lead compassionately.  The day also included time for games and class bonding. The Class of 2025 ended the day with Mass, presided over by faculty member Fr. Kevin Scalf, C.PP.S.

Mr. Naumann said, “Leadership McNick is a vision born out of our Mission 26 strategic planning that identified the need for the formation of compassionate leaders.  At McNicholas, we will engage our students in a four-year journey, helping to them to find their God-given brilliance.  Our students, our school, and our community are at its best when we equip young people with the necessary skills and resources to effectively lead.  Leadership McNick is specifically designed to help our students reach their potential or ‘stature’ and share their gifts with others. We look forward to officially launching this program in the fall.”
