Rocket photographers' images on display at university gallery

Junior Peter Anderson and senior Gabrielle Gruppo's photographs are on display in the Studio San Giuseppe Art Gallery at Mount St. Joseph University as part of their Selections biennial exhibition.

Photography teacher Mrs. Bea Gardner, who submitted the photographs, said, “Peter came to our art program with a love for the techniques and processes of photography. His use of symbols as storytelling goes beyond the depiction of ‘subject’ or ‘the noun’ alone. Like any artist who has been making for a while, Peter has learned to use color, perspective, and light to help tell his story.”

Gabby has taken four courses in the photographic and digital arts at McNicholas. Mrs. Gardner said, “Gabby has always leaned into and explored ideas that center around ‘well-being.’  Her work is always highly symbolic, thoughtfully expressive, and emotionally engaging.”

Gabby’s current series, which includes the photograph Memories of Childhood that is on display at Mount St. Joseph, “speaks to the most tactile of our childhood memories and how they shape the direction of our present-day lives."

Peter and Gabby’s works are on display through December 17. The gallery is open to the public.
