Rocket artwork chosen for Bicentennial Holy Card

Congratulations to freshman artist Lucy Timko whose artwork was selected as one of twelve designs for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Bicentennial Holy Cards.

Lucy’s artwork is a linoleum print that depicts Jesus in the arms of Mary. Her work was influenced by the Pieta statue in her parish of Guardian Angels. Foundations Art teacher, Mr. Willy Corbett, said, “Each year before and during the season of Lent, the foundations class studies printmaking. Students use the season of Lent and the Life and Passion of Christ as themes for the work. The contest, whose theme was Radiate Christ Through Mary, fit hand-in-hand with the project.”

Lucy’s work was printed as a Holy Card and is being distributed during the Bicentennial Pilgrimage. The pilgrimage began Sunday May 16, with a Mass at the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Russels Point, Ohio in the Northern area of the Archdiocese. The pilgrimage will last 33 days and will end at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains on the day of the bicentennial, Saturday, June 19. The Archbishop will reconsecrate the Archdiocese to Jesus through Mary during a special Mass commemorating the bicentennial.

Lucy has also been invited to have dinner with Archbishop Schnurr to celebrate the bicentennial and to commemorate her accomplishment.
