NHSSCA recognizes four Rocket athletes and McNicholas training program

NHSSCA recognizes four Rocket athletes and McNicholas training program

The National High School Strength & Conditioning Association names Ava Strange, Mia Nienaber, Caleb Naumann, and Connor Powderly as All-Americans and McNicholas High School as a Program of Excellence.

The NHSSCA annually recognizes 100 high school student athletes from across the country as All-Americans through the Association. Student athletes must go through a rigorous application process and meet an extensive criteria in training, sports, academics, and leadership. McNicholas is the only high school in the country to have four student athletes named as All-Americans.

"I am proud to announce the first-four NHSSCA All-Americans in McNicholas school history," said Coach Pete Collopy. "To be named an NHSSCA All-American, you must meet the standards of a comprehensive rubric that proves athletes excelled athletically, academically, in the weight room, and as leaders in our community. This achievement is only granted to fifty male and fifty female athletes each year. We are honored to have the maximum of four represent our sports performance program."

McNicholas High School has also been named as a Program of Excellence through the NHSSCA after being reviewed by a panel of coaches. This recognition represents a standard of distinction in high school strength and conditioning. The program has demonstrated outstanding professionalism, commitment, and excellence in all areas evaluated by the NHSSCA's comprehensive rubric. Earning this distinction is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and student athletes.

NHSSCA All-American Athletes

Ava Strange

A two-sport athlete, who helped lead volleyball and basketball to regional final appearances her senior year. Ava is a gifted athlete with a tremendous vertical that helps make up for a lack of height as an outside hitter. She is committed to play volleyball at Fairmont State University this fall.

Mia Nienaber

Mia has always been a very skilled basketball player. Through tremendous persistence and consistency in training, she became a very powerful guard on the basketball court and developed the ability to score in a multitude of ways. She is going to play basketball in college at the University of Virginia's College at Wise.

Caleb Naumann

Caleb has been one of the most consistent athletes in training and it shows. His junior year, he was named the GCL Offensive player of the year in football. Caleb does some incredible things in training that is beyond impressive and has leadership traits that have gone unmatched amongst his peers. He is poised for a fantastic year on the gridiron.

Connor Powderly

Connor is Mr. Consistent. He's battled through injuries and contributed at a high level in varsity football and baseball as an underclassman. His freshman year, Connor had the most sessions attended in the weight room out of everyone in the entire school, while playing three sports! He has an extremely bright future ahead!
