Moeves and Losekamp recognized by Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce

During the annual Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony on March 25, senior Lila Moeves will be recognized as Student of the Year and faculty member Mr. Bill Losekamp will be recognized as Educator of the Year. 

Lila Moeves '25 - AACC Student of the Year

During her years at McNicholas, Lila has distinguished herself as a brilliant student and a compassionate leader. 

Lila is a four-year Dean's List student and extremely hard worker. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Latin Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Science Honor Society. 

Lila's effort shines through every course assignment and project that she turns in. She brings positive and inclusive energy to the classroom, making others feel encouraged to share their thoughts as well. Her natural curiosity and openness to new ideas and perspectives, even when they might challenge her own, is a testament to her empathy and compassionate leadership. 

McNicholas science teacher Ms. Cat Humphries said, "Lila is one of the hardest working students I have ever met. She is kind, generous, and humble. She strives every single day to be her best and as her teacher I find her incredibly inspiring. You would be hard pressed to find another student that better exemplifies the ideal student coming out of McNicholas High School." 

Outside of the classroom, Lila is a four-year cross country and track & field athlete, the president of the McNicholas Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, student ambassador, Kairos rector, St. Joseph Scholar, Catholic Relief Services Club member, and thespian troupe president. She is also faithful volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Pantry where she helps provide groceries and clothing for the elderly and families in need. 

Lila plans to study Political Science and Classics at the University of Notre Dame next fall as she works toward her long-term goal of serving others as an attorney. 

Mr. Bill Losekamp - AACC Educator of the Year

Mr. Bill Losekamp has served students at McNicholas High School as a math teacher for 28 years and more recently also holds the title of Director of Student Life. In his time here, Bill has been an integral part in the growth and success of McNicholas High School. 

Bill is highly respected by faculty, staff, and students alike. A valued member of various committees, he oversees the annual Mardi Gras pageant and ball, one of McNicholas' most honored traditions. As a member of our Kairos board and a Kairos director, he plays a vital role in supporting students on their faith journey. Bill's greatest superpower is his unwavering commitment to serving the McNicholas community. 

"Since Bill walked in the door 28 years ago, he has been working to make McNicholas a better place," said English teacher Angie Noble. "Bill leads with empathy and compassion, which is difficult to do sometimes as our student moderator. He truly cares about every student and works with them to be their best whether in the classroom in one of his math classes or when he is talking through a discipline referral." 

An avid learner, Bill continuously researches new strategies and resources to better serve his students. They admire and respect him, learning from his wisdom and guidance each day. Beyond equipping them with knowledge, he provides the tools and confidence they need to pursue their dreams. With patience and compassion, he reminds students of their potential and all they can achieve. 

Outside of McNicholas, Bill cherishes time with his wife, Becky, their three children, Katie, Billy, and Tony, and his six grandchildren.
