Class of 2022 bonds during Senior Sunrise

The Class of 2022 gathered for prayer and play on Friday, Sept. 3 as part of Senior Sunrise, a tradition that marks the beginning of their final year at McNicholas High School

Planned by the CREW Leadership Team with the support of the Alumni Association, Senior Sunrise began with morning Mass for seniors and their parents. Fr. Kevin Scalf opened the sunrise celebration by highlighting Christ’s message of love. Fr. Kevin said, “In the halls of McNick and on the streets of Mt. Washington, and all points in between ‘love one another, as I have loved you’ by being kind…Give what you have received.”

Seniors then headed out to Paradise for breakfast, corn hole, spike ball, and other community-building fun. Patti Dold ’71, Sally Garretson ’84, and Judy Jackson ’70 were among the alumni on hand to serve breakfast and welcome the seniors, who will be joining the Alumni Association in May.

Patti Dold, President of the Alumni Association, shared that the group loves to support this celebration because it helps strengthen the lifelong friendships and community that each senior will call upon during their time at McNick and long beyond.

The Class of 2022 will mark the end of their year with a Senior Sunset Celebration.

A Friendship Without Borders: McNicholas Celebrates Its First Sister School Exchange with Argentina

Nine McNicholas students traveled to Buenos Aires this summer for the school's first Sister School Exchange with Instituto Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves, building on friendships formed when Argentine students visited McNicholas earlier this year. Through living with host families, attending classes, and experiencing Argentina's rich culture and history, students discovered that the most meaningful lessons come from stepping beyond their comfort zones and embracing connections that transcend borders.

McNicholas proudly recognized 16 student-athletes from the Class of 2026 who have committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
