Congratulations to the following students who have been recognized for their achievements and named student of the week by the Cincinnati Enquirer during the 2023-24 school year! 

 

Amanda Zerhusen

Academic Excellence Award

Amanda is a first honors student in her senior year at McNicholas. She is the 2023 recipient of the St. Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement and Social Conscience, which recognizes students’ academic success and exemplary community service involvement. Amanda is also a member of the National Honor Society and a varsity soccer player for the Rockets.

Alex Smith

Spirit Award

Alex serves as the student body president for the 2023-24 school year, was named captain of the 72nd annual Mardi Gras Ball and is a member of the CREW program leadership team. He participated in the fall 2023 six-day Appalachia Encounter Retreat along with 23 other seniors. At the retreat, Alex said he learned that “when you partake in acts of service for others, true community flourishes.”

Lynn Sandmann

Art & Soul Award

Lynn is a gifted artist who creates visually stunning paintings, sketches and sculptures. Her passion for life and care for others radiates through her work. She also represented McNicholas High School in the Cincinnati finals of the Rotary Club 4-Way Speech Contest during the 2023-24 school year and was named the Cincinnati champion.

Remington Holder

Academic Excellence Award

Holder is a four-year Dean’s List student and a St. Joseph Scholar. He is a member of the Science National Honor Society, Math National Honor Society and National Honor Society. He is a member of the boys bowling team, academic team, CyberPatriot team and other clubs.

    McNicholas High School proudly celebrates the Academic Top Ten of the Class of 2026, recognizing students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in the classroom while making a lasting impact on the school community through leadership, service, and involvement.

    Natalie Cox, Josephine Fortin, Sarah Hutchinson, Grace McCafferty, Lauren Radtke, Allison Runte, Addison Russo, Kaelin Timko, Kennedy Trapp, and Annemarie Wolfer.

    Class of 2026 Shines at Arts Signing Day

    Yesterday, we celebrated our talented arts students during Arts Signing Day. The Class of 2026 includes seven students earning the Ohio Arts Honor Diploma, twelve students who studied art all four years at McNicholas, and nine students who will continue their education in an arts-related field. Congratulations to these talented young people!

    Jolene Esz Named AACC Teacher of the Year

    For Jolene Esz, teaching has never been just a job. It is a calling rooted in community, service, and a deep commitment to helping students grow. This year, that dedication was recognized in a meaningful way as she was named Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year.
