Alum speaks about sustainability

A special thank you to Morgan Vogler, Class of 2017, who spoke to faculty and students about taking steps toward sustainable living. Morgan is a senior at Xavier University, majoring in Economics, Sustainability, & Society.  

Morgan challenged Rockets to make one simple change this month that will make their living more sustainable, such as bringing reusable utensils to lunch, cutting up an old t-shirt to use in place of a disposable paper towel, or packing lunch or a drink in an empty spaghetti sauce jar. She encouraged Rockets to be creative and utilize items that are already in their homes as they take practical steps to protect the beauty and goodness of God’s creation. 

Director of Campus Ministry, Mr. Jeff Hutchinson-Smyth '94, said, "It fills me with Rocket pride to see how Morgan has taken the ways she was formed in faith for compassionate leadership at McNick and allowed her light to shine as a university student. Her generous spirt has only continued to soar as she has embraced servant-leadership in the NEXUS Community Garden and Urban Farm at Xavier University. I'm not at all surprised that she has found her brilliance in spaces that serve the broader community and the common good while caring for the beauty and goodness of God's creation."

    Where Art Comes Alive: McNicholas Students Explore Italy, France, and Belgium

    Some of life's greatest lessons cannot be found in a textbook. They are discovered standing beneath the ancient arches of the Colosseum, gazing up at masterpieces in Vatican City, or watching the sun set along the Seine River. This spring, 43 McNicholas students experienced those moments firsthand, returning home with a deeper appreciation for art, history, culture, and the world around them.

    A Friendship Without Borders: McNicholas Celebrates Its First Sister School Exchange with Argentina

    Nine McNicholas students traveled to Buenos Aires this summer for the school's first Sister School Exchange with Instituto Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves, building on friendships formed when Argentine students visited McNicholas earlier this year. Through living with host families, attending classes, and experiencing Argentina's rich culture and history, students discovered that the most meaningful lessons come from stepping beyond their comfort zones and embracing connections that transcend borders.
