HSPT

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati requires all 8th grade applicants to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT).

Students may take the test at any participating Catholic high school and indicate on the registration form three high schools in which to send your test scores. McNicholas High School is a testing site.

HSPT Registration

The deadline for HSPT registration has passed. Please contact the Admissions Office for help.

Students sign-up for the HSPT through the Archdiocese registration portal. Confirmation emails will be sent from Scholastic Testing Services (STS).

Registration for the HSPT opens August 1. Test registration fee is $30.

Students requesting accommodations on the HSPT must indicate the request when registering, submit the accommodation plan to the testing site coordinator, and submit an approval form signed by your grade/middle school principal.

HSPT Testing Day Details

On Saturday, Nov. 18, testing check-in starts at 7:45 a.m., with the test beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. Please arrive no later than 8:15 a.m. Enter through our main lobby doors facing Beechmont Avenue. After check-in, where you will be given your registration and room numbers, one of our student ambassadors will escort you to your testing room.

All supplies, including pencils, will be provided. No calculators are permitted for the test. We will have a break mid-way through the test and McNicholas will supply water bottles and a snack. If you prefer to bring your own snack, please feel free to do so.

We anticipate the testing to conclude at approximately 11:30-11:45 a.m. Students will exit the building through our courtyard. Please park in our main lot adjacent to Beechmont Avenue (by the electronic sign) and will be able to see your student exiting the doors through the courtyard. Our address is 6536 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45230.

If you have questions about testing day, please email admissions@mcnhs.org. All students will be emailed HSPT results from Scholastic Testing Services on Jan. 17, 2024.

Testing Accommodations: All students who have requested accommodations for the HSPT will be contacted by Katie Hambly, Director of Curriculum, with more information and an estimated end time for student pick up. Questions about HSPT accommodations may be directed to khambly@mcnhs.org.

Suggestions for a great testing day: Get a good night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast, and RELAX! You’ve got this!

Listen to our students explain why they feel so at home at McNicholas High School.

We love McNick! The sense of community, faith based education, collective leadership of the school, longevity of key teachers, and focus on communication in classes were the top reasons we chose to send our sons here.Suzette, parent of Class of '22 and '24
