Admission Requirements

Archbishop McNicholas High School admits qualified young men and women of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded to students at the school. The Admissions Committee looks for students who are committed to spiritual growth, service to others, and academic achievement. Students must demonstrate the ability to be successful within the Archbishop McNicholas High School curriculum.

Incoming Freshman (Class of 2024):

  • Submit Application for Admission and complete essay by December 1, 2019.
  • Grade Schools/Middle Schools submit grade school records, including standardized test scores (i.e. Iowa) by Friday, December 6, 2019.
  • Take the Entrance Exam
  • Schedule a Shadow Day
  • Demonstrate ability to be academically successful and commitment to a Catholic education
  • Possess a satisfactory disciplinary record

Transfer Students (currently in 9th grade or above):
Archbishop McNicholas High School does not admit transfer students entering their senior year from the Greater Cincinnati area unless the student has moved or there are extenuating circumstances necessitating a transfer.

  • Submit transfer student Application for Admission
  • Submit Release of Records for transfer student
  • Interview with the Admissions team
  • Possess a satisfactory disciplinary record
  • Demonstrate ability to be academically successful and commitment to a Catholic education
  • High School Placement Test may be necessary
  • Schedule a shadow visit, if desired, after interview
  • Additional materials as requested

International Students:
McNicholas admits a limited number of international students each year. International students will be required to study on an F-1 Visa  or J-1 visa. All international students must be proficient in English (TOEFL, TOEFL Jr. or IELTS score required) to be considered for admission.

  • F-1 students must be enrolled from August-June and are required to attend McNicholas for at least two years in order to be eligible for a diploma.
  • J-1 students may enroll to audit courses for a semester or whole year. We have limited spots available for J-1 students.
  • All international students must live with an approved host family. No student is permitted to live independently.
