At McNicholas, students have the benefit of our 1-to-1 tablet program that prepares them for success in life and work in the 21^st century.

Our 1-to-1 tablet program plays an important role in our adaptable curriculum, equipping students with the technology and support they need to develop their computer literacy and competency skills, as well as their critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Our technology team provides students with quality support and maintenance of their school-issued tablets. Additionally, our Director of Technology works to ensure that the network is running consistently and that our faculty and staff have the most up-to-date technology in their offices and classrooms. Our Director of Curriculum works closely with teachers to develop adaptable lessons and to implement best practices for technology integration in the classroom.

Features

Personal computers with touch screens and stylus
Office 365, including OneNote for digital notetaking and OneDrive for cloud storage
Schoology for online course management and class resources
PowerSchool for monitoring grades, attendance, and student behavior
Online textbooks available anytime, anywhere

Policies

Tablets are lease-to-own with a four-year warranty, including accidental damage and protection. Accessory replacements/malfunctions are not covered.
Students are entitled to one free tablet repair per academic year.
Students tablets are collected at the end of every school year for updates and software refresh.
Students and Parents read and agree to our Acceptable Use Policy that details student responsibility/liability in regard to technology.

UC Early IT Program

McNicholas partners with the University of Cincinnati to offer the UC Early IT Program.
Students in the program receive college credits through the College Credit Plus Program that are good at any college.
Students who attend the University of Cincinnati School of Information Technology will have the benefit of automatic acceptance, admission as a sophomore, and paid co-op eligibility the summer after high school graduation.

CyberPatriot

CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air & Space Forces Association to inspire K-12 students to pursue careers in cybersecurity and other STEM fields critical to our nation’s future. At the heart of the program is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, the country’s largest cyber defense contest, where middle and high school students take the lead in securing virtual networks.

This is a team for students who are participating in the UC Early IT program.

INTERAlliance TechOlympics

McNicholas High School students participate each year in INTERAlliance TechOlympics, Cincinnati’s premiere technology competition and expo. This two-day event brings together students from across the Greater Cincinnati area to compete, connect, and explore the region’s growing IT landscape. Participants can take on challenges in programming, design, and networking, or build new skills through hands-on workshops. Students also receive guidance on crafting professional résumés, preparing for formal interviews, and engaging directly with many of Cincinnati’s top employers, some of whom are actively seeking summer interns and future co-ops. TechOlympics gives our Rockets an exciting opportunity to learn, lead, and envision their futures in technology.
