Mrs. Ellen Bungenstock, our dedicated French, Culinary French, and AP Capstone teacher, will lead McNicholas students on an enriching journey through France and Spain. The "Paris to the Pyrenees" trip offers a unique opportunity for students to practice conversational French, explore vibrant cities alongside a fluent French speaker, and satisfy their growing wanderlust. This immersive experience promises to deepen their cultural understanding and provide unforgettable memories.

Mrs. Laura Rupp and Mrs. Chelsea Almer will be leading an exciting trip to Ireland and Scotland for McNicholas High School students during spring break! This unique adventure offers students a chance to broaden their horizons and immerse themselves in the rich culture and history of these beautiful destinations, all while making unforgettable memories with their classmates.

Barcelona Sister Exchange Program

Welcome to the exciting world of the McNicholas and Barcelona Sister Exchange Program! This vibrant initiative brings together students from McNicholas High School in the US and our sister schools in Barcelona, Spain: Sagrat Cor de Jesús Collegi Casp. It's not just about visiting another country; it's about diving into a new culture, making lifelong friends, and sharpening your language skills in Spanish, Catalan, or English.

A Unique Cultural Journey
Imagine strolling down La Rambla in Barcelona or experiencing a classic American high school football game—our exchange program offers these unforgettable experiences and more. Students from both sides of the Atlantic are eager to learn about each other’s daily lives, traditions, and, of course, favorite foods!

Language Learning
This program is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your language skills. Whether you're perfecting your Spanish or Catalan, or if your goal is to master English, you'll be immersed in a supportive environment that encourages practical use and real-life conversations.

What to Expect

Cultural Immersion: Explore historical landmarks like the Sagrada Familia or the Freedom Center, enjoy local festivals, and participate in school events.
Language Practice: Daily interactions with host families and peers will boost your fluency and confidence in your chosen language.
Educational Exchange: Attend classes, participate in workshops, and experience the educational systems of both countries.

How It Works

Application and Matching: Interested students apply and are matched with a partner student from the sister school.
Exchange Visits: Students spend a few weeks attending the host school and living with a host family. This usually includes a reciprocal visit.
Ongoing Connection: After the exchange, students continue to connect through online platforms, fostering long-term friendships and continuous language practice.
