Counseling
Our Counseling Department’s mission is to nurture the unique development of each individual student. In our supportive environment, students learn to set goals, develop their strengths, and make confident decisions about their futures.
Our school counselors act as advocates for our students, providing them with the resources and direction they need to develop their God-given brilliance, and the personal and social support they need as they encounter concerns that are important to their lives.
Our counselors collaborate with students, parents, school staff, and the community to facilitate each student’s academic achievement, personal growth, and career development. They also play an integral role in supporting students with their post-secondary plans, including the college application process.
Confidentiality
A student’s right to privacy and confidentiality is the basis for an effective relationship with a school counselor. Confidentiality ensures that school counselors won’t share students’ disclosures with others except when the student authorizes it, when there is a clear and present danger to the student and/or to other persons, or there is a court order mandating the disclosure of information.
McNicholas uses Naviance, A College & Career Planning Resource, to assist our students in the college and career process. Naviance is a comprehensive website that students and their parents can use as a tool in planning their future.
