Archbishop McNicholas High School begins the new school year by welcoming Mr. David Mueller as our principal.
Mr. Mueller comes to McNicholas from Mother of Mercy High School where he served as principal for six years. Prior to his time at Mercy, he was at St. Xavier High School for 19 years. With a B.A. in English from Yale University, he first joined St. Xavier in 1978 as an English teacher and later became department chair. Then earning his M.B.A in management from Xavier University in 1986, he soon moved into administration as the assistant principal for academic affairs and principal in 1993.
In addition to his involvement in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Bank St., for nearly 20 years and more recently in HOPE (Holy Land Outreach Promoting Education), Mr. Mueller received the St. John Bosco Award for Leadership in Faculty Professional Development from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati in 2012. Mr. Mueller and his wife of 43 years have three adult children and three grandchildren.
“I’m grateful for the warm welcome from the members of the McNicholas community I’ve met thus far,” Mr. Mueller said. “As I have gotten to know board members and colleagues on the leadership team, I have learned about many exciting McNicholas programs, some revered for years and some newly launched.”
Mr. Mueller has enjoyed meeting the students who have been on campus to pick up their tablets or participate in band or sports practices and looks forward to meeting even more Rockets and their families—the reason for our school.
“I’m thrilled to join the team of students, educators, parents, alumni, and benefactors who will chart ways for our students ‘to attain full stature in Christ’ into the future,” he said. “Our community, our country, and our world depend on us for young women and men on fire with faith and prepared to lead with a Catholic worldview.”
Tune in to this special episode of The McNick Minute when Ian Rose talks to Mr. Mueller about his background, his interests outside of school, and some plans for the upcoming school year.
