McNicholas announces Special Appeal

McNicholas announces Special Appeal

Rockets are worth their weight in gold! And as we lean on the luck o’ the Irish during this year’s McNick at Night event, we hope that you will help us fill the pot at the end of the rainbow.

This year’s Special Appeal is for a gift to McNicholas that will benefit our entire community and our guests! Please consider a making a contribution to our HVAC Project which includes…drum roll please…AIR CONDITIONING FOR THE GYM!

Our much-anticipated HVAC Project to overhaul and modernize our electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning begins this summer. Because of the size and scope of the project, it will be completed in two phases during the summers of 2022 and 2023. The Convent will get its upgrade in 2024.

During Phase 1, we will replace the school’s main electric gear and provide much-needed air conditioning for the Larry Bogenschutz Gymnasium, our largest, most-used, and most-versatile gathering space.

In addition to hosting all of our home indoor athletic events, the gym is our venue for

  • All-school Masses
  • Theatre productions
  • Academic awards ceremonies
  • Speaker events
  • Pep rallies
  • School dances
  • Blood drives
  • Fundraisers
  • Grade school summer camps
  • Mardi Gras Pageant and Ball
  • And much, much more!

Our initial fundraising goal for this vital infrastructure project is $2 million. To date, we have raised $1.6 million, 80% of that goal. And with a little luck and a lot of love from our community, we can go o’er the top with this Special Appeal! Thank you for your generous support!

Hearts Across Hemispheres: McNicholas Families Welcome Argentina Home

For five unforgettable weeks this winter, the hallways of McNicholas High School echoed with new voices, new laughter, and a new language. Our school made history by hosting our first-ever exchange students from Las Nieves High School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In doing so, we discovered something profound. Home is not just a place. It is a feeling created by open hearts and open doors.
