Girls Volleyball earns OHSAA State Runner Up

Congratulations to the Girls Volleyball Team on their championship season!

The Rockets advanced to the OHSAA State Championship after defeating Summit Country Day and earning themselves the title of Division III Regional Champions. They took down Byesville Meadowbrook in three sets in the Final Four and ended their season in the final match against Mentor Lake Catholic as the 2023 Ohio State Runner Up.

“I am so proud of this 2023 season of historic firsts and this team who has put their everything into accomplishing the goals they set at the start of the season," head coach Darlene Tierney said.

The McNicholas Launch Pad packed Wright State’s Nutter Center in support of their Rockets for both the semifinal and final matches. “The Rocket spirit was overflowing from the school, the athletic department, alumni, former McNick volleyball coaches, my former coaches, parents, JV and freshman volleyball teams, friends, and the whole McNicholas community! I am humbled by the amount of support and love that showed up for this deserving team and amazing group of young ladies,” Coach Tierney added.

The girls ended their season with a record of 21-8 and were 1st in their conference. "Everything we did prior to and during the season has paid off. We've put our blood, sweat and tears into how far we've gotten, and I have no regrets, and I'm grateful for everything and everyone on my team," senior Gabie Hopkins said.

“Seniors Maria Billies, Cassidy Rivas, Gabie Hopkins, and Kelsea Haas, you will be dearly missed," Coach Tierney said, "but your leadership and legacy will remain as you paved the way for this program."

Congratulations to these seniors and to the other members of the team that will continue to keep this legacy alive: Lauren Radtke ‘26, Lucy Rudolph ‘25, Allie Runte ‘26, Sarah Hutchinson ‘26, Ali Strange ‘27, Lucy Perkins ‘25, Lilly Tierney ‘27, Ava Strange ‘25, Savanna Stacey ‘27, Lynn Sandmann ‘25, and Maria Schulte ‘27.

Hearts Across Hemispheres: McNicholas Families Welcome Argentina Home

For five unforgettable weeks this winter, the hallways of McNicholas High School echoed with new voices, new laughter, and a new language. Our school made history by hosting our first-ever exchange students from Las Nieves High School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In doing so, we discovered something profound. Home is not just a place. It is a feeling created by open hearts and open doors.
