Rocket Raffle Success!
Thank you to everyone who supported the Rocket Raffle. We raised over $100,000, exceeding our goal and earning lots of fun incentives, including a day off school on Monday, February 13, the day after the Super Bowl! But most importantly, we raised money for tuition assistance which will help give more students the opportunity to develop their God-given brilliance at McNicholas. Thank you for your effort, enthusiasm, and generosity!
Other Events
Incoming freshmen who are considering a four-year art education are encouraged to submit a digital portfolio. A portfolio is a collection of your work, which shows how your skills and ideas have developed over a period of time. It demonstrates your creativity, personality, and abilities. The art portfolio is only used to place you in the appropriate course.
On February 1 at 9 a.m., the primary contact for each family will receive an email from SchoolAdmin, our new enrollment management system. Click on the unique URL in the email and follow the prompts to set up your account. This will create one account per family; you do not need separate accounts for multiple children.

The Rocket Learning Community Team invites current freshmen and sophomores to an informational Open House on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 2:30-4 p.m. in rooms 10 and 12. Parents are welcome to attend with their students.
Additionally, the RLC teacher team will hold a virtual meeting at 5 p.m. for parents who are interested in learning more about the program.
Applications for the program are due on February 17.
Parents of students who are interested in taking College Credit Plus (CCP) courses are invited to attend a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. in the café. During the meeting, the Counseling Department will share information regarding the registration and funding process required to take CCP courses.
College Credit Plus is a dual enrollment program that allows students the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time. The program provides a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited cost to students and families. McNicholas offers multiple CCP courses on our campus, but students can also take courses directly from an Ohio college or university.
Please contact Matt Wehrman at 513-231-3500 x5811 with questions.
Rising sophomores and juniors are encouraged to consider joining the Rocket Learning Community (RLC). The RLC takes a unique, interdisciplinary approach to achieving the learning outcomes of core classes. The RLC program for sophomores includes their English, Social Studies, Theology, and Science courses. The RLC program for juniors includes their English, Social Studies, and Theology classes.
Students must apply for membership to the RLC. Applications for the 2023-24 program are due February 17.
McNicholas counselors will meet with students the week of February 6 to offer information and guidance for course selection for the 2023-24 school year. Students will receive a course scheduling form to complete; please work with your student to make intentional choices and return the signed scheduling form to your student’s CREW teacher by February 17.
In 1953, the Sisters of St. Joseph, the founders of our school, brought the Mardi Gras tradition from New Orleans to their new home here at McNicholas. Each February, we honor that tradition by celebrating the brilliance of our students during our annual Mardi Gras Pageant and Ball.
Mardi Gras is a party full of pageantry, entertainment, royalty, and dancing. The first Mardi Gras was a thank you to students for their help in running a successful raffle, but in addition to the tradition of Mardi Gras, the Sisters of Saint Joseph also established a legacy of service in our school. And so, as Lent approaches each year, we throw a party that recognizes our students’ character, leadership, and service to our community.
While the event honors the service and accomplishments of all our students, 40 seniors are especially honored during the pageant and the Mardi Gras King and Queen are crowned. These seniors, along with the 8 juniors and 8 sophomores who make up the Honor Guard, are voted on by peers and teachers. After the pageant, all of the students celebrate with a formal dance.
Once you have created your account in SchoolAdmin, you can access your Parent Portal to complete your Enrollment Contract, pay the required $850 deposit, and select your tuition payment plan.
Scholarship applications for McNicholas Scholarships, Ohio EdChoice, and the Jon Peterson Scholarship are all due on February 28. Please refer to the Reenrollment Checklist for more information.
McNick at Night is our primary fundraising event, and we’re bringing it back to campus! This year, it’s a disco-themed evening filled with music, food, drinks, and entertainment with a live DJ. All funky friends of McNick over 21 are invited to attend.
We’re not dancin’ around the fact that we’re here to raise money for the kids, so there will be games of chance, a special appeal to “fund-a-need,” and silent and live auctions with fun, fabulous, and affordable items for everyone.
