School Day
Graduate Services will be on campus on Monday, Oct. 30 to take orders for senior graduation announcements and sophomore class rings. You can also order online until Dec. 4.
Please ask your senior or sophomore for the information that was handed out during the meeting with Graduate Services on Thursday, Oct. 19.
All current and former military members and their families are to cordially invited to our annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Friday, Nov. 10. We will begin with an all-school assembly in the Bogenschutz Gym with a featured speaker. Guests are asked to arrive between 7:30-7:50 a.m. The program begins at 8 and will run until 8:35 a.m., at which time we will move to the café for breakfast.

Students requesting accommodations on the HSPT must indicate the request when registering, submit the accommodation plan to the testing site coordinator, and submit an approval form signed by your grade/middle school principal.
Incoming freshmen are required to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) as part of their application to McNicholas High School. McNicholas is offering practice tests and a test prep course to help students prepare for the HSPT.

Because McNicholas believes in providing opportunities for students with a wide range of passions and talents, we offer four types of scholarships and awards for the incoming Class of 2028:

The scholarship application is open from September 1 – November 15, 2023 for the 2024-25 school year.
Students sign-up for the HSPT through the Archdiocese registration portal. Confirmation emails will be sent from Scholastic Testing Services (STS).
Registration for the HSPT is open from August 1 – November 15, 2023. Test registration fee is $30.
Students interested in our SAIL Program for identified learners need to submit a SAIL application by November 15, as well as submit a McNicholas application by November 30.
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati requires all 8th grade applicants to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Students may take the test at any participating Catholic high school and indicate on the registration form three high schools in which to send your test scores. McNicholas High School is a testing site.
Important information for testing at McNicholas:
- Check-in starts at 7:45 a.m., with the test beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m.
- Please arrive no later than 8:15 a.m.
- Please enter through our main lobby doors facing Beechmont Avenue. After check-in, one of our student ambassadors will escort you to your testing room.
- Pencils will be provided. No calculators are permitted for the test.
- We will have a break mid-way through the test and McNicholas will supply water and a snack. If you prefer to bring your own snack, please feel free to do so.
- We anticipate the testing to conclude at approximately 11:30 a.m. Students will exit the building through our Courtyard so please park in our main lot so will be able to see your student exiting the Courtyard doors.
- Students approved for testing accommodations should look for an email with additional test day instructions and approximate pickup times. Questions about accommodations can be directed to our Director of Curriculum, Katie Hambly.
- HSPT results will be emailed from Scholastic Testing Services on January 17.

National Signing Day | November 15
We look forward to celebrating our student athletes who have committed to playing a collegiate sport on fall National Signing Day, Wednesday, Nov. at 2:30 p.m. in the library.
If your son or daughter is committed to play a sport in college and you would like him or her to celebrate with us, please send the following information to Drew Schmidt at dschmidt@mcnhs.org and Susan Rohlfs at srohlfs@mcnhs.org by noon on Monday, Nov. 13:

- Written statement from the coach or school stating the financial gift

Meet the Coach is for parents of any student athlete participating in a winter sport. We will begin in the cafe at 6 p.m. with OHSAA required information from the Director of Athletics, Mr. Drew Schmidt. Teams will then move to separate locations where coaches will introduce their staff, discuss their expectations for the season, and answer questions. Go Rockets!
