Welcome, Class of 2016!

We are excited to have you as our newest Rockets!  Below is a checklist of tasks and helpful information as you prepare for your first days at a Rocket.

1. Review the schedule and details for Rocket Welcome Week.

2.  Create your cafeteria account

Derringer Company will again be taking care of the foodservice needs for the students and faculty at McNicholas High School beginning August 21 in the "Refreshme Marketplace & Grill."

The marketplace has a variety of fresh salads, wraps, sandwiches, snacks, and grill items with an emphasis on "Healthy Options!" and employs a state-of-the-art self-checkout kiosk and an upscale convenience store / grill format. Students pay for food items via pre-funded accounts (no cash will be taken). To establish a new account, please see Derringer's welcome letter for the 2012-2013 school year.

3.  Complete your medical form

All new students must return the completed Certificate of Medical Examination to school on or before the first day. This green form was included in the information you received when you registered, and is also available by clicking the above link.

4.  Read the student handbook

Familiarity with school practices, policies, rules, and regulations helps create a cohesive school environment and fosters an atmosphere of respect and cooperation within the school community. Please familiarize yourself with these practices and policies by reading the 2012-2013 Student Handbook. Also take some time to look over these frequently asked questions.

5.  Finish your required Summer Reading
Students are required to read two books this summer, one for English and one for science. Students will be tested in English class on their selected book on Friday, August 24 and will complete a project on the required science book due Friday, August 24. Refer to the 2012 Summer Reading List for details on the books and assignments.

6. Sign up to volunteer

Parents, we hope to see you often on campus whether at our new Penn Station Stadium, a theatre production, band or choir concert, or other exciting event. To make it a great year, we want every family to be involved. The Rocket Launcher is an online sign-up for numerous volunteer opportunities at McNick. Please review the list by clicking the link above, find something you would enjoy helping with, and check the box(s). A representative from your area of interest will contact you to let you know how you can help. If you have questions, feel free to contact the area representative directly.
