College Planning Step 6: Important Testing Dates and Preparation
Be sure to know your school’s admission, scholarship, and financial aid deadlines. Then be sure to have your materials completed and sent well in advance of those deadlines. Early is better than late.
McNicholas encourages students to have public university applications completed by October 15 with November 1 as a target date for private colleges and universities.
Please have test scores from ACT and/or SAT sent directly from the test agency as that is becoming policy at more and more schools as well as the NCAA Clearinghouse. When you register for a test, you can send your scores to 4 schools for free.
We recommend taking both tests once, preferably during the spring of junior year. When preparing, revisit PSAT and PLAN results to identify areas of strength and weakness, work on areas of weakness, and take practice tests
