PTSA

2011-2012 PTSA Board Members

PTSA sponsors many events throughout the school year.  Please consider volunteering for the following events for 2011-2012:

Rocket Shop

Our school shop sells spirit wear and uniform apparel. Daytime volunteers are needed to staff the shop typically on a once a month basis on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. Volunteers are also needed to staff the shop during evening sports events and special events.  To volunteer for daytime hours, contact Michelle Stultz, Erin Frey, or Patti Mueller.

Meet the Teacher: September 7

On Meet the Teacher night, parents are invited to school and walk through their student’s schedule. Parents are able to meet teachers and hear brief descriptions of their students' classroom expectations. This is also a time to meet classmates' parents as well as counselors and administrators. PTSA sets up tables introducing all of its activities to families as they come into the school. To volunteer to staff the tables, contact Gloria Ann Castleman.

Teen Dress Shop: September 10

This event is a combined effort among McNicholas, Anderson, and Turpin High Schools. Girls from all three schools can drop off their formals and dance dresses and students from all three schools come and shop the Teen Dress Shop. All dresses are priced at a reasonable amount providing a service to all girls in the community. The seller receives the money for the dresses that have been sold. The location rotates every year and this year it will be held at Turpin. To volunteer to assist with the sale of the dresses, contact Stephanie King.

Walk Day: September 23

This school-sponsored fundraiser benefits McNick as well as Catholic Inner City Schools.  Volunteers are needed to man checkpoints along walk route in the Mount Washington area. To volunteer, contact Patti Mueller.

Doughnuts with the Principal: October 20, January 12, and March 22

This quarterly activity is a fun morning for all students where they have an opportunity to share doughnuts and a little conversation with our principal. To volunteer to set up, pick up donuts, and clean up after the event, contact Shelva Jacobs.

Mother/Daughter Breakfast: October 2

Daughters and mothers are invited to spend the morning together, enjoying a special brunch and listening to a speaker. Volunteers are needed to help with mailing invitations prior to the event. On the day of the brunch, volunteers are needed to set up, to assist serving brunch, and to clean up. To volunteer, contact Jeanne Daly, Theresa Bradley, or Kim Simmons.

New Student Open House: October 23

On this day, prospective students and their parents (eighth graders and new upperclassmen) tour the school facilities, learn about extra-curricular activities and have an opportunity to meet with students and staff. Assistance is needed as delegated by staff as well as manning a table of refreshments outside the large gym.  To volunteer, contact Michele Lamping or Robyn Ruhe.

Father/Daughter Dance: November 20

All McNicholas daughters are invited to bring their fathers to an evening of food, music and fun. Volunteers are needed to help with mailing invitations and to solicit door prizes. The night of the event volunteers are needed to check in daughters and dads and to assure the facility is ready for the event. To volunteer, contact Vicki Miller or Mary Kay Wiesenhan.

Mom/Son Prom: March 4

After Prom: April 29

After Prom is the largest PTSA sponsored event of the year. Many volunteers are needed to help transform the school into various themes through decorating, to solicit prizes and sponsors, to chaperone this all-night event which takes place at school “after prom,” and to clean up the next day. Planning begins early in the school year; much of the work is done in the spring closer to the event date. To volunteer, contact Darline Foltz.

Faculty Appreciation Luncheon: June 1

On the last day of school, PTSA provides a well-deserved, thank-you lunch to our McNicholas faculty and staff. Volunteers are needed to provide lunch items such as casseroles, side dishes, desserts, and breads as well to set up and clean up. To volunteer, contact Erin Frey.
