Objectives of Course:

We will:

bulletexpand our awareness of God’s presence in our lives
bulletdevelop an openness to celebrating the gift of life
bulletbroaden our understanding of our relationship and commitment to the community of faith
bulletexplore the individual, communal, and historical implications of the sacramental life of Catholic Christians
bulletrespond to the sacramental call to serve God and others…

Class Expectations:

Self-respect and respect for others is essential for success in this class:

"You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Leviticus 19:18 and Mark 12:31)

Grading:

Grades will be calculated regularly based on the following:

bulletClass Preparation and Participation (ongoing)
bulletEnrichment Assignments (5-6 per quarter)
bulletLearning Assessments (2-3 per quarter)
bulletWriting Assignments (1-2 per quarter)
bulletClass Presentations (1-2 per quarter)

*If turning in assignments late is a well-formed habit, now is a good time to break it…

Required Materials:

Each student will be expected to bring to class the following each day:

bulletPortfolio (1" 3-Ring Binder with Pockets)
bulletPen or Pencil
bulletTextbook (supplied by school)

In addition, each student is responsible for her/his own personal or family Bible for the purposes of home study and assignments.

Schedule of Readings and Assignment Due Dates:
Except where noted, reading assignments can be found in the student text, Celebrating Sacraments (CS). You will be responsible for reading each section…Reading and writing assignments are due on the dates listed next to them. Unavoidably, once or twice you will have reading and writing due on the same day, but no one says you have to leave both until the last minute. Read ahead if it helps you to manage your time.
