Architectural Design and Drafting I

This beginning
course introduces students to the architecture fields by covering the
proper techniques and procedures used in designing and drafting, a set of
working drawing for residential structure. The second semester is
dedicated to drawing basic floor plans, elevations, and landscaping.
Students will design a home with in guidelines and build a model to scale.
Architectural Design and Drafting II
Prerequisites: 90% average in
Architectural Design and Drafting I.
Available to Grades 11,12

This course gives the
students the practical knowledge needed to pursue courses in allied
fields of drafting and engineering. The course explores the principle of
visual and spatial relations and helps the students to discipline
him/herself by emphasizing precision, neatness, and correct
interpretations of standard drafting principles, using drafting tools or
computer assisted design. The second semester is dedicated to
drawing floor plans, elevations, and landscaping for a building that will
be built to model scale.
Ceramics I
Prerequisites: None
This beginning course introduces
students to the basic fundamentals of working with three-dimensional form
in clay. Students will produce functional and sculptural pieces. Clay
construction, additive and subtraction techniques, and glazing will
be some of the topics covered. A brief overview of the history of ceramics
will be presented.

Ceramics II
Prerequisites: Ceramics
I
This course is designed for students
who have completed Ceramics I and wanted to continue exploring the ceramics
medium. The introduction to wheel throwing techniques and forms; both
functional and nonfunctional; will be emphasized; yet advanced hand building
techniques will be included. Student's knowledge of the history and
aesthetics of ceramics are further developed through field trips, visiting
artist and class discussion.
Advanced Ceramics
Prerequisites: Ceramics
II, 90% in advanced course work or teacher recommendation.
This class is designed for students
who are considering a career in art and have completed advanced studio
courses. Projects extend to all media with emphasis on individual style,
composition. It is recommended that students start to assemble projects for
an art portfolio and or to prepare a slide portfolio of their work.
