A. Grading -- Four major categories on point system. It is
my judgment call here.

C. Literature Quarter by Quarter

Quarter 1 -- Study of World Literature, The Odyssey,
Mythology by Edith Hamilton, and Antigone.

Quarter 2 -- Silas Marner, Beowulf,
Canterbury Tales.

Quarter 3 -- Lord of the Flies, Hamlet
and Macbeth.

Quarter 4 -- Novel, romantic and Victorian poetry.
D. Writing Assignments

I-Search Paper (a personalized research paper) -- due
before Christmas vacation

Projects, essays, great variety.
E. Vocabulary -- quiz every other week / analogy
expertise.
F. Grammar

Pre-Grammar Test and Post-Grammar Test

Grammar in senior year is based on areas of concern in
student writing and speaking, and in preparation for the ACT and SAT.
G. Materials Needed:

3 subject notebook with pockets -- in class everyday.

Pencils, pens, and your own paper -- in class
everyday.

daily planner -- in class everyday.
H. Additional reminders:

Class begins with prayer when the bell rings; please
be on time.

Personal / business needs
should be attended to before or
after class, not during instructional time.

Late essays / projects will be penalized eight
points for each day late.

Homework assignments are accepted only on the
date due during your English period. No homework = 0%.

Research dates are set in stone.

If you are absent the day of the test, you will
take the test the day you return to school in After-School Testing. It
is your responsibility to see me immediately when you return about
missed work / assignments.

No Gum, food, or drink is permitted in the
classroom.
-
No not talk while I am talking. This is rude and will
not be tolerated.

Feet must be on the floor.
-
No hair combing /
putting on make-up during class.
