  • Tablet Pick-Up for Class of 2017    Incoming freshmen and their parents need to attend one of the following Tablet Pick-Up Meetings in the McNicholas Library. At the meeting, we will set up student email accounts, introduce students to the tablets, and discuss tablet and network policy. Students and parents will sign the Acceptable Use Policy at this time. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Please fill out the Tablet Pick-Up RSVP.
    • Monday, July 22 from noon until 1:00 p.m.
    • Tuesday, July 23 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
    • Wednesday, July 24 from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m.
    • Thursday, July 25 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.
    • Friday, July 26 from 8:00 until 9:00 a.m.

 

  • Nick Erdy Foundation Golf Outing  The 8th Annual Nick Erdy Foundation Memorial Golf Outing will take place Saturday, June 29 at the Deer Track Golf Course. Registration opens at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost is $80 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, prizes, and dinner following. Dinner only is available for $12 per person. Proceeds go to benefit several local scholarships as well as the Injured Marines Fund. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.   • Summer Reading   All students are required to read two books over the summer, one for English and one for history or religion. Students will be tested in English and religion classes on their selected books on Friday, August 23. History assignments will also be due on Friday, August 23.  Click for more details and for the complete list of Reading Requirements for Summer 2013Some copies of the required summer reading books are available in the McNicholas library. Students may put McNicholas library copies on hold beginning May 13 to be checked out on the last day of school and returned by August 31.

 

  • Summer Reading, Unplugged  Members of the Class of 2017 are invited to take the Summer Reading, Unplugged course, which is designed specifically for our incoming freshmen. Summer Reading, Unplugged will teach active reading strategies to build comprehension, build organizational skills for your child’s transition to high school, instill confidence in reading academic materials, give your child a head start on the summer reading requirement, and allow new friendships to develop. The class will be offered June 17-20 (Mon.-Thurs.) and June 24-28 (Mon.-Fri.) from 9:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. in the McNicholas Library. Registration will be limited, and the cost is $175.00 before June 1; $225.00 for enrollment after June 1. All materials, including the novel, Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie, are included.   • Rummage Sale to Benefit Rohling Family    McNicholas is sponsoring a rummage sale on Saturday, May 25 from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. Cash sales only; Admission is $1. Math teacher Mrs. Christine Rohling's husband, Tom, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Funds raised will be used toward his treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Any items to donate can be dropped off at the rear doors of the main gym on Thursday, May 23 or Friday, May 24 during school hours. Please no clothes, stuffed animals, bedding or live animals.   • Buffalo Wild Wings Loyalty Card    Support After Prom with your Buffalo Wild Wings Loyalty Card.  The cards may be picked up at the front office for anyone who needs one. They can be used multiple times until the end of the year. The offer only applies at meals purchased at the 7741 Beechmont Ave location across from LaRosa's and IHM Welcome Center.  10% of every food and non-alcoholic beverage purchase will benefit After Prom.  Questions?   • Renew Your Kroger Community Rewards   Last year, Kroger changed their Community Rewards Program and now require users to re-register their Kroger Plus Cards each April. Please click here to renew your Kroger Rewards Card or to register a new account.  To say thank you, we will be giving away two $100 Kroger gift cards.  To enter the drawing, bring in your receipts with McNicholas High School listed as your chosen organization between April 1 and May 31.

 

  • Pre-participation Sports Physicals  On Saturday, June 1 from 8-9:30 a.m., Wellington Orthopedic & Sports Medicine and Mercy Health are sponsoring pre-participation physicals as well as fitness assessments for student athletes in grades 7-12. Click here for more information.

 

  • Parent Prayer Group   All parents/grandparents/guardians are invited to gather on Friday mornings at 7:35 a.m. (following 7 a.m. mass) to pray for our children, teachers and our high school community. Please consider joining us in the chapel. The prayer service will last ½ hour. We will follow with the rosary at the end of the service for anyone who is able to stay. What greater gift could we give to our high school community than to gather in prayer and ask the Lord to bless and watch over us all.


  • The McNicholas Green Pages   The Alumni Association of McNicholas High School is pleased to announce the online publication of the McNicholas Green Pages.  Thanks to the many alumni and friends of McNicholas High School who submitted information, we have a robust directory of businesses and professional services owned and operated by our McNicholas community.  The next time you need a plumber, car dealer, restaurant, or cake decorator, don’t turn to the Yellow Pages, click on the McNicholas Green Pages.
