VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
*After Prom
(4-25-09 to 4-26-09) –LARGEST
PTSA SPONSERED EVENT OF THE YEAR!!!!
Many
volunteers are needed to help transform the school into various
themes through decorating, to solicit prizes and sponsors, chaperone
this all night event which takes place at school “after prom” and
clean up the next day. Planning begins early in the school year;
much of the work is done in the spring closer to the event date.

*Bengal Games (Home games)
– PTSA’s BIGGEST FUNDRAISER.
Approximately 40 volunteers are needed
at each home Bengal’s game to take food and drinks from
“McNick’s” kitchen to a specific area of seats. This is a great
opportunity to meet people or volunteer with a group of your friends
and support all of PTSA’s activities for all students.

Shop (Ongoing) – McNick’s school shop sells school spirit
wear and uniform apparel. Daytime volunteers are needed to staff
the shop typically on a once a month basis M, W, F 11:00 AM -1:00PM
or 1:00PM - 3:00PM. Volunteers are also needed to staff the shop
during evening sports events and special events. Business contact:

Freshman Parent
Information Night (08-18-08) This evening is coordinated by
the guidance department. It is an opportunity for parents of
incoming freshman to hear from the counselors and the principal the
basic school expectations and “how to’s”. Additionally the
presidents of athletic boosters, theatre boosters and PTSA speak
briefly about the organizations and volunteer opportunities.

*Walk Day
(10-03-08)
This school sponsored
fundraiser benefits McNick as well as CICS (Catholic Inner City
Schools).
Volunteers are needed
to coordinate event and man checkpoints along walk route in the
Mount Washington area.

Teen Dress Shop
(09-06-08) This event is combined effort between McNick, Anderson
and Turpin High Schools. Girls from all three schools can drop off
their tagged formals and dance dresses and students from all three
schools come and shop the “Teen Dress Shop”. All dresses are priced
at a reasonable amount providing a service to all girls in the
community. The seller receives the money for the dresses that have
been sold. Volunteers are needed to assist with the sale of the
dresses.

*Doughnuts with
the Principal (10-31-08, 01-09-09, and 03-20-09) This
quarterly activity is a fun morning for all students where they have
an opportunity to share doughnuts and a little conversation our
principal.
Volunteers are needed
to coordinate; pick up donuts and clean up after the event.

*Meet the
Teacher (09-03-08) –This night parents are invited to school
and to “walk through” their student’s schedule. Parents are able to
meet teachers and hear a brief description of their child’s
classroom expectations. This is also a time to meet classmate’s
parents as well as counselors and administrators. PTSA sets up
tables introducing all of its activities to families as they come
into the school. Volunteers are needed to staff the tables.

*Mother/Daughter
Breakfast (10-05-08) – Daughters and mothers are invited to
spend the morning together enjoying a special brunch and listening
to a speaker. Volunteers are needed to sell tickets at lunch and
help with invitation mailing prior to the event. On the day of the
brunch they are needed to set up, assist serving brunch and to clean
up.

*Father/Daughter
Dance (11-23-08) – All McNick “daughters” are invited to
bring their fathers to an evening of food, music and fun. Volunteers
are needed to sell tickets during school lunch, help with invitation
mailing and solicit door prizes. The night of the event volunteers
are needed to check daughters and dads in and assure the facility is
ready for the event.

New Student Open
House ( 11-9-08 ) On this day, prospective students and
their parents (eighth graders and new upperclassmen) tour the school
facilities, learn about extra curricular activities and have an
opportunity to meet with students and staff . Members’ assistance
is needed as delegated by staff well as manning a table of
refreshments outside the large gym. Coordinators organize obtaining
these refreshments.

*Father/Son
Breakfast (02-08-09) – Sons may spend a morning sharing
breakfast with their father and listening to a speaker. Volunteers
are needed to sell tickets at lunch and help with invitation mailing

Appreciation Breakfast (Catholic Schools Week, 01-29-09) –
During this week, PTSA sponsors a breakfast for the staff.
Volunteers are needed to pick up food, set up, and clean up
afterwards. This is a great chance to meet school staff.

*Mom/Son Prom
(03-01-09) – All McNick “sons” are invited to bring their moms to a
wonderful catered dinner followed by music, dancing and fun.
Volunteers needed to sell tickets during school lunch, help with
invitation mailing and solicit door prizes. The night of the event
volunteers are needed to check mothers and sons in and assure the
facility is ready for the event.

Appreciation Luncheon (06-05-09) – On the last day of
school, PTSA provides a well deserved lunch “thank you” to our
McNick staff. Volunteers are needed to provide breakfast items /
lunch items such as casseroles, side dishes, desserts, breads, etc.,
and/or set up and clean up.
