College Admission Profile 2007-2008
As a predominantly college preparatory high
school, McNicholas has as its ultimate goal the pursuit of academic
excellence. Founded in 1951 as a Catholic co-educational high school
by the Sisters of St. Joseph, McNicholas has a strong tradition of
academic excellence, service to the community, and the development
of each student's strengths. Offering courses from college level to
general studies, McNicholas is able to meet the challenge of
providing an academic environment while fulfilling our mandate to be
a comprehensive high school.

Class Standing
Rank in class and grade
point average (GPA) are calculated using the arithmetic mean;
the student earning the highest cumulative GPA is assigned a
rank of 1. Unless otherwise indicated, rank is assumed to be
not weighted. Weighted class rank and GPA are available upon
request and take into consideration the level of difficulty of
certain courses. Advanced placement courses, Honors and AA are
weighted at 1.06; A-level courses, Chemistry, Physics and
third and fourth years of foreign language are weighted at
1.04. |
