In Spanish 1 we learned all about the customs and traditions of Dia de los Muertos.  Click here to see the website we looked at last year.

Now this year in Spanish 2 we are going to explore further this Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos.  We will research famous Hispanics in history and create mini-altars/ofrendas.

The Process:

bullet

Choose a famous Hispanic in history who has influenced or changed the world in some way.

bullet

You may choose to write about a famous athlete, artist, movie star, singer, scientist, poet, etc.

bullet

There are links below to help you begin your search.

bullet

When you have found the person you would like to research, sign up with Ms. Dietz.

bullet

Use the internet to find information about the person and write a 2 page report or biography of the person's life.

bullet

You may type your report during class time in the language lab.  Please use your time wisely.  If you don't finish during class, then you'll need to finish up outside of class.

bullet

You will want to include important information such as when and where they were born, lived and died.  Make sure you include why their are famous.

bullet

A conclusion paragraph- Summarize, conclude your report and tell us why did you choose this person? And what items you will place on your mini altar in remembrance or as an "ofrenda" to this person.

bullet

A cover page- Name, date, class period, subject, Ms. Dietz + clip art of the person and below put the years they lived.

bullet

Keep in mind that my quarterly writing assignments are worth a test grade and tests are weighted as 30% of your grade. Your mini altar is worth half of this grade.

bullet

Be prepared to present your report and share/display your mini-altar to your class.
