Athletics

Archbishop McNicholas High School strives to foster the development of strong Christian values through our athletic programs which are highly respected and bring excitement and spirit to our campus. McNicholas is a member of the GCL and the GGCL which continue to be recognized as two of the strongest leagues in the state of Ohio. The men and women compete in the GCL Central Division. As a member in good standing of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, McNicholas continues to compete in Division II or III for state tournaments. We sponsor 42 teams/squads in 23 sports. Approximately 65% of our students participated in one or more of our sports programs last year.

Per the Ohio High School Athletic Association and McNicholas High School all student athletes must complete the following prior to the first day of practice/tryouts:

Must be academically eligible per OHSAA and McNicholas guidelines *incoming freshman must have passed a minimum of five subjects in the fourth quarter of their 8th grade year.
Must have a completed OHSAA Physical Form on file in the athletic office
Must have a completed Archdiocese of Cincinnati Medical Consent Form on file
Must have a completed Travel Consent Form on file
Must have paid all athletic and booster fees to the Athletic Department

Fees for Athletics for 2012-2013 school year

Participation fees are per athlete: $200 first sport, $150 each additional sport, with a $650 family max per year.
Athletic Booster fees: $50 per family per year.
All fees must be paid in order to participate in practice/tryouts unless payment arrangements have been made through the Athletic Office. This is a change from last year. In the event the student does not make a team, the fee will be returned.

2012-2013 Fall Sports Information

Wellington Orthopaedics Physicals
Wellington Orthopaedics will be offering sports physicals for athletes in grades 7-12 for $10 on two dates in June. No appointment is needed. Physicals will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Parent must sign Wellington's Physical Consent Form. Each athlete will receive a free T-shirt. *McNicholas receives $10 for every athlete that designates McNicholas as their school.

June 6- At Colerain High School from 6-8 p.m.

June 9- At the Anderson Wellington office from 8-9 a.m.

Fall Sports Dates to Remember

Football begins July 30, all other fall sports begin August 6
Team Photos are Saturday, August 11th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Meet the Coach is Thursday, August 9th – Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m.
Fall Awards will be Monday, November 19th at 6:30 p.m.

NCAA National Letter of Intent Signing Days
We will be participating in the three NCAA National Letter of Intent Days. Detailed information will be posted in our newsletter and on our website as the date approaches.
