Course Number 5114, Integrated Science
A
lecture/laboratory introduction to the principles of chemistry,
physics, and earth and space science.
Course Number
5112, Biology
A
lecture/laboratory course covering the basic concepts of taxonomy,
cell biology, genetics, evolution, botany, invertebrate and
vertebrate zoology, and ecology.
Course Number
5321, AP Biology
An in-depth
lecture/laboratory examination of the topics introduced in Biology,
including molecular and cell biology, genetics and evolution,
population biology and ecosystem dynamics, and the diversity in
structure and function in the six kingdoms of living things. This
college-level course prepares students for the AP Biology
examination, by which students may qualify for college level credit.
Course Number
5223, Anatomy and Physiology
An in-depth
lecture/laboratory examination of the structure and function of all
human body systems. This course provides the student with an
advanced knowledge of human health and is an elective of special
interest to students considering any health-care field.
Course Number
5312, Chemistry
An examination of
the following topics in Chemistry: nomenclature, atomic theory,
moles, periodic law, bonding, balancing equations, stoichiometry,
gas laws, acid-base theory, solutions, equilibrium, and nuclear
reactions.
Course Number
5335, Chemistry in the Community
An examination of core concepts of
chemistry with key societal issues. Small-scale labs are an
important part of this course; mathematical applications are
minimal.
Course Number
5412, Physics
A
lecture/laboratory course covering a review of the metric system,
and a study of forces, motion, kinetic and potential energy, vector
analysis, work, thermal energy, wave characteristics, and static
electricity.
Course Number
5411, AP Physics
An accelerated
course using the math concepts of algebra and trigonometry in an
intensive study of kinematics, Newton's laws of motion, conservation
laws in classical mechanics, thermodynamics, electrostatics,
electric circuits, magnetism, waves and optics, and modern physics.
This course prepares the student who is especially interested in
physical science, mathematics, and/or engineering for the AP Physics
B examination, by which college credit may be earned.
