Philosophy
The Roman Catholic Church is built upon a richness of faith and
tradition that has endured for centuries. The comprehension and
communication of this richness is essential to the life of a Roman
Catholic Christian. The Religion Department of McNicholas High
School operates in this context. The course of studies that is
offered provides a solid basis for the student to make life choices
and a vantage point from which a student's life may be evaluated.
The Religion
Department of McNicholas High School builds upon the faith
foundation instilled by a student's parents. Through faith
witnessing and course work in a variety of theological topics, the
theology teacher fosters within each student a sense of Roman
Catholic Christian ethics, morality, and knowledge that is the seed
for both present and future faith development. As a result, it is
hoped that the student will grow to have a deeper understanding of
her/his intrinsic dignity as a child of God, a strong love for the
Roman Catholic Christian heritage, and an ability to articulate
intelligently the fundamental truths of faith. It is the aim of the
Religion Department of McNicholas High School to guide students so
that they may "Attain full stature in Christ"
Objectives
In order to
accomplish its educational philosophy, the Religion Department of
