Theatre Performance I
Course description: Theatre Performance I will concentrate on the fundamentals of both
the performance and the technical areas of theatre. The
student will explore the historical roots of theatre, learn basic
acting skills, may participate in stage productions / stage
management / technical crews through auditions and interviews.
Students will be expected to participate in in-class scenes and
performance activities. Preparation for these activities will
follow a structured set of guidelines. Emphasis is on
developing individual interpretive and organizational skills as well
as performance appreciation.
Theatre Performance II
Course description: Theatre Performance II
concentrates on acting, directing and the technical production areas
of theatre. You will study the development of acting and
directing, applying these skills to in-class and public
performances. Critical play review of school performances and
at least one professional production is required.
Participation in Showcase II, whether acting or doing technical work
is a requirement.
The grade for this course is based on performance, preparation of
materials, written tests, and research projects. Emphasis is
on ensemble work.
Theatre Performance III
Course description: Theatre Performance III requires
major projects in the student area of interest in addition to
Theatre History. These projects will be in the areas of
directing, acting, and technical theatre depending on the strength
and interest of the individual student. Historical research on
playwrights, actors, and designers will be incorporated in the
course work. Critical play review of school performances and
at least one professional production is required. Students
will be expected to participate in Showcase III. Emphasis will
be placed on developing directing, acting, analysis, ensemble work,
and production skills.
