Faculty
Director Keith
Nance
Mr. Nance began as band director at McNicholas in 1998-99. Mr. Nance
has taught at the high school, college and drum corps levels of
instrumental music. Mr. Nance holds a Fine Arts (Music) degree from
Marshall University and a Social Science degree from Shawnee State
University. Mr. Nance has written / arranged for various high
school band in Ohio, Ky, WVA, and VA. Keith served as staff
percussion arranger for the Marshall Marching Thunder from
1991-1995.
Keith also performs with Lee's Junction Big Band as well as his own
bands the Sympathetic Vibrations and Imperial Jazz Trio. Keith lives
in Mt. Washington with his wife Patricia, daughter Dylan, and dogs
Zappa, Sadie and Jack.
Assistant Adam Martin
Mr. Martin holds a Music Degree from Marshall University and has
been a Rocket Band staff member since 2001-02. Adam teaches
General Music at Immaculate Heart of Mary and served as the McNick
bowling coach in 2004.
Xan Waddell
Jeffery
Xan
Waddell Jeffery, soprano, has been teaching in the Cincinnati area
for over fifteen years. She holds Master of Music and Bachelor of
Music degrees in Voice Performance, both from the
College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati.
While a student at CCM, she won numerous scholarships, including
the Baur Vocal Scholarship, the Werner Vocal Scholarship, Sigma
Alpha Iota, and the CCM Graduate Scholarship.
Mrs. Jeffery
has performed with the Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony, and the Nashville Symphony.
She is currently a member of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra Chorale
and sings with the Worship Arts team at Parkside Christian Church.
She was the Soprano Soloist and Director of Children’s Music at
Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church for thirteen years, under
the direction of Dr. Elmer Thomas and Ben Basone.
Mrs. Jeffery
has taught Early Childhood music and middle school choirs for the
Forest Hills School District for the last seven years. She is
licensed in all levels of Kindermusik. She has sung literally
hundreds of weddings in the Cincinnati area in the last twenty
years!
Currently,
Mrs. Jeffery conducts the McNicholas High School Concert Choir and
teaches private voice lessons at the Musical Arts Center. She is an
active member of the Ohio Music Educators Association, Sigma Alpha
Iota, and the CCM Alumni Board of Governors.
Mrs. Jeffery
lives in Anderson Township with her husband, Mike, and four teenage
children. She enjoys volunteering lots of her time to her
children’s athletic and musical groups.
Staff
John Espy
Percussion/Music Arranger
John is a graduate of McNicholas and is currently a Senior music
major at Marshall University where he served as percussion arranger
for the Marshall Marching Thunder. John is also an alumnus of the
Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corp.
Josh O'Leary
Band/Visual
Josh is a graduate of McNicholas and is currently a senior music
major at Wright State University.
Amanda Sanger
Color Guard
Amanda if a graduate of Glen Este high school and marched two years
with the Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps. She currently attends the
college of Mt. St. Joseph.
