About Us...
McNicholas has its roots in St. Joseph Academy, a boarding school
for girls opened by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Bourg in 1915. In
1950, Archbishop John Timothy McNicholas
asked the Sisters if the academy would like to become the first
coeducational diocesan high school in the Cincinnati area. This
request was honored by Archbishop Karl J. Alter, and McNicholas High
School was inaugurated January 15, 1951.
Throughout our history, McNicholas has educated thousands of young
men and women who have proudly taken their places as Christian
leaders in today's society. Through constant change and continual
improvement, we consistently challenge all students to reach their
greatest potential.
